my boyfriend did not like this game, but he hates horror games so that means that this is a good game! (he thought it was silly, like a simulator type game themed around egg fried rice, and even with a "are you sure? it says it's a horror game" from me , he still persisted lol) I thought it was great, and the "follow the guy" ending made me scream pretty loud lol. but ever since I finished the game, my boyfriend and I have been craving...
"going-to-the-store-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-get-a-mundane-snack" indie horror genre is quickly becoming one of my favorites too. This game had one of the most effective jumpscares I've experienced in a while!
Really enjoyed all of the endings, they were all hilarious even if they were quite dark lol. Well done!
Whenever there's an ending, the text dancing made me wanna create a Melody XD So I did, and also found almost all the endings (except the 3rd variation which didn't trigger for some reason). Hope you enjoy! ^-^

It was an excellent game, I really had fun, and didn't expect to get scared but at some point I did, I loved the style of the game and I will check out more, I wish more suspenseful or some kind of music was added, however, the eerie silence suited well with the game.

Great game as always, I can see you put a lot of work on it. You made it with godot, how did you make the head move? I tried rotating the bones but it always gives me errors. By the way, when exporting you can embed the pck file so its just the exe.
Moving bones will be a bit of a case by case basis I imagine, I use a BoneAttachment3D node that I attach to the neck bone, then I can enable/disable "Override Pose" and lerp the angle as required in code.
I am aware that you can pack the pck file but Godot's own documentation suggests not doing so:
"On Windows, PCK embedding is also known to cause false positives in antivirus programs. Therefore, it's recommended to avoid using it unless you're distributing your project via Steam as it bypasses code signing and antivirus checks."
Played the game, the multiple ending thing got repetitive and I didn't realize you thought so too until I've finished uploading it. That being said good on you for giving the bonus speed to at least mitigate that feeling of repetitiveness.
Overall, I enjoyed it, if you're looking to play it I recommend playing for the main ending. If you're a completionist and still want to complete it, nobody is stopping you so go ahead!
I totally neglected to write this in the controls section, but LOTS of people have mentioned the terrible brakes, and well... You can press Spacebar to brake! Very few people seem to have naturally found this out XD
Congrats to the dev on getting this to the top of the most played Itch games. Yes, it is horror. Yes,that is an oversaturated genre that appears everywhere here. Yes, this game has enough merit to stand out in a sea of seemingly similar titles. And the choice of title, 'Egg Fried Rice' is super weird but fortunately it isn't just about that.
It is a short narrative horror and it has some intriguing endings. It is unnerving and succeeds in leaning into a somewhat janky and low end look, making that actually fairly effective. Which is good.
For the devs of this game or any other indie creators stumbling onto this... if you want some more mobile type, PSX sort of low polycount 3d assets, maybe a giant library of textures to work from, note that I have thousands of assets on sale for under $2 right now.
That may prove useful to many of you, and there are a few little freebies there as well. If you miss this sale, also, recognize many US holidays have one day sales attached to them, So the next two, Labor Day and Halloween, for example, will have everything that's there now plus a lot of added updates. Keep an eye out for big new things there in the next few months. Thanks!
